Staff at our target schools monitor student needs and identify priorities, and COR Houston works with the staff members to try to meet those needs.

Many students lack access to very basic supplies. Some of the items we provide include:

Clothing

school uniforms and other clothing, shoes, socks, coats and other cold weather gear, underwear

Hygiene Items

soap, toothbrushes & paste, deodorant, period supplies, shampoo

Food

canned goods, rice, flour, cooking oil, and other pantry food for students to bring home to their families; easy meals that students can make themselves; nutritious snacks

Books & School Supplies

notebooks, books for libraries or for personal reading for students to take home, college prep materials

Special Requests

blankets, microwaves for heating up snacks for students, shelving and clothing racks, air mattresses, art supplies, and more

COR Houston has three sources of supplies to meet requested needs:

  • Monetary donations from individuals, businesses, and other organizations.
  • In-kind donations, including donations from supply drives, “adopt a school” programs, and other service projects.

The parents here at my campus sometimes need emergency food items, and your donations have been very useful! I was also able to give the special ed class boxes of cereal for each student, and also delivered snacks, as they don’t have any at all. The teacher assistants were very grateful. Sometimes the snacks provided were bought with their own money.”
